Public Space

The Harbour’s entire site plan complies with the Coconut Grove Waterfront Master Plan,
also called the Sasaki Plan after the firm that did the design work. Years of residents’
input and participation resulted in the Master Plan’s approval in July 2008 – and The
Harbour will actually implement important elements of the plan, making this stretch
of Coconut Grove waterfront easily accessible by the public at long last. The Harbour
strikes an appropriate balance between marine uses and land-based uses, creating
active and passive spaces for both the boating and non-boating communities. New
docks and finger piers will be constructed to encourage more boaters to visit, and a new
baywalk along the property’s entire waterfront edge will be built. A new public pier, some
2,400 square feet in size, will extend the baywalk into the bay.
